UCM Sweeps Weekly Volleyball Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Missouri teammates Paula Harris and Julia Bates have been named MIAA Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 1-5 as selected by a conference SID panel.
MIAA HITTER OF THE WEEK
Paula Harris, MH, Central Missouri
Harris recorded double-figures in kills in three matches this week,
averaging 4.40 kills per set. The senior from Conway Springs, Kan.,
also posted a .481 hitting percentage, only hitting six errors all
week. Against Missouri Western, Harris had five total blocks,
reaching the five-plus block mark for the eighth time this season.
Currently, Harris leads the MIAA in hitting percentage (.405) and
is second in kills per set (3.60), trailing only teammate Allie
Huffman. Harris is also one of only five players in the conference
to average over one block per set (1.05, 4th in MIAA). Nationally,
Harris is ranked eighth in Division II in hitting percentage.

MIAA SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
Julia Bates, S, Central Missouri
Bates extended her streak of 30-plus assists last week to 12
matches with an average of 11.4 per set against Truman, Missouri
Western and Northwest Missouri. The sophomore from Leavenworth,
Kan., has averaged over 10 assists per set in her last 12 matches.
Bates also collected 12 kills over the week, hitting for a .333
hitting percentage. Against Missouri Western, Bates nearly recorded
her third double-double of the season, coming one dig short. She
currently leads the MIAA, averaging 11.47 assists per set.
Nationally, Bates ranks sixth in Division II in assists per
set.
