MIAA Lands Five in 2010 AVCA Preseason Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Five MIAA squads were voted in the top 25 of the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Division II Coaches' Poll, released Wednesday afternoon.
 
Defending MIAA Champion Central Missouri will begin the season ranked No. 5 nationally after receiving 676 points in the poll, followed closely by Washburn at No. 6 with 603 points.

Emporia State was voted preseason No. 12 with 451 points, Pittsburg State was picked 19th with 216 points and Truman was selected 25th with 71 points.

Three-time defending NCAA Division II Champion Concordia-St. Paul was voted preseason No. 1, receiving 29 first-place votes and 788 total points.

The 2010 volleyball season is set to begin Friday, Sept. 3, with several non-conference tournaments. The first MIAA matchup of the season will take place Sept. 10.
