MIAA Lands Six in NCAA DII Volleyball Field

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - MIAA schools filled six of the eight spots in the South Central Region of the 2009 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship field, announced Sunday night. MIAA Champion Central Missouri earned the No. 1 seed and will host the regional in Warrensburg, Mo. The Jennies will take on No. 8 seed Dallas Baptist in the first round.

Washburn, which tied for second in the MIAA with Emporia State, received the No. 2 seed and will face conference foe Nebraska-Omaha, the No. 7 seed, in the first round. Emporia State is the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 seed and fellow MIAA school Pittsburg State. Truman rounds out the MIAA teams as the No. 6 seed and will match up with No. 3 seed West Texas A&M in the first round. Match times will be determined on Monday.

Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five game matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, December 3-5, on the campus of a participating institution. Competition at the finals site will be single-elimination, best three-of-five game matches.
