Omaha Sweeps MIAA Volleyball Weekly Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Nebraska-Omaha teammates
Ellen Thommes and Emily Myers have been named MIAA Volleyball
Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 22-26 as selected by a
conference SID panel. Thommes is a first-time winner in 2009, while
Myers collects her third weekly honor of the season.
MIAA VOLLEYBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
Ellen Thommes, MB, Nebraska-Omaha
Thommes hit .452 during the week and averaged 4.23 points
a set with 3.54 kills and 0.85 blocks for Nebraska-Omaha. The
senior from Omaha, Neb., had 19 kills and hit .450 in a win against
sixth-ranked Washburn on Wednesday. In a 3-2 loss at No. 3 Emporia
State, Thommes had 18 kills and a .500 attack percentage. She
blocked six shots against Washburn and then had four in a 3-0 sweep
at Fort Hays State Friday.

MIAA VOLLEYBALL SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
Emily Myers, S, Nebraska-Omaha
Myers averaged 11.62 assists per set and 2.77 digs a set
in three matches last week for UNO. The sophomore from Modesto,
Calif., had 30 or more assists in all three matches and also
reached double figures in the matches for three double-doubles.
Myers had 62 assists and 14 digs in a loss at No. 3 ESU and had 56
assists and 11 digs against No. 6 Washburn.
