Shepard, Myers Tabbed MIAA Players of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Arica Shepard (Emporia
State) and Emily Myers (Nebraska-Omaha) have been named MIAA
Volleyball Players of the Week for the week of Aug. 28-29 as
selected by a conference SID panel.
MIAA VOLLEYBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
Arica Shepard, OH, Emporia State
Shepard had 55 kills while hitting .355 on the weekend
averaging 4.58 kills per set. She added 41 digs averaging 3.42 per
set and had four blocks and one service ace as ESU did not drop a
set during the weekend. Against North Alabama, Shepard had her
first double-double of the season with 13 kills and a match high 12
digs. She earned first straight points on service to give ESU a 6-0
edge to start set two. Against Dallas Baptist, Shepard had a second
straight double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs while hitting .458
in the match. Against Eastern New Mexico, she had 13 kills to go
along with nine digs while hitting .500 for the match. Against
Minnesota State-Mankato, Shepard had her third double-double of the
season with 16 kills and ten digs.
MIAA VOLLEYBALL SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
Emily Myers, S, Nebraska-Omaha
Myers had 30-plus assists in all four of UNO's matches
last week during the UNO Volleyball Showcase. She finished second
among the tournament field with 10.92 assists per set and she was
10th with 2.92 digs per set. Myers also hit .500 with 13 kills and
two errors in 22 attempts. On Saturday against North Alabama she
had 6 kills and hit .750 while recording 32 assists and seven digs.
On Friday, Myers recorded a pair of double-doubles with
double-figure assists and digs.
