Rinehart Named Volleyball Coach at Northwest
Jessica Rinehart, who has spent the last five seasons as the head volleyball coach at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, has been named the head volleyball coach at Northwest Missouri State as announced by Northwest Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Boerigter.

Cartagena, Shepard Daktronics All-Americans
Pittsburg State senior outside hitter Pamela Cartagena and Emporia State senior outside hitter Arica Shepard earned spots on the 2009 Daktronics, Inc. All-America Volleyball Team, it was announced Friday.

Central Missouri Volleyball Falls in Regional Final
No. 1 seed Central Missouri lost 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 18-25, 21-25) to No. 3 seed West Texas A&M in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Final Saturday to close out the season for the Jennies. It is the sixth time this decade that Central Missouri has finished as the regional runner-up.

2009 All-MIAA Volleyball Team Announced
Six players each from MIAA Champion Central Missouri, Emporia State and Pittsburg State headline the 2009 All-MIAA Volleyball Team, released Wednesday by the conference office. The selections were made by the league's 11 head coaches, and coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Washburn Ready to Compete for Regional Title
Last spring the players on Washburn’s volleyball team realized they had plenty of work to do during the summer months before the 2009 season started. The Lady Blues were coming off a successful season. They reached the South Central Regional before falling in the first round. Many of the players were returning and knew the level they needed to reach to advance in postseason.

Central Missouri’s Bradye Peniston, Pittsburg State’s Corinne Stringer and Nebraska-Omaha’s Angie Reicks have been named MIAA Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 10-14 as selected by a conference SID panel. Peniston, Stringer and Reicks are all first-time honorees in 2009.

MIAA Lands Six in NCAA DII Volleyball Field
MIAA schools filled six of the eight spots in the South Central Region of the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship field, announced Sunday evening. MIAA Champion Central Missouri earned the No. 1 seed and will host the regional in Warrensburg, Mo. The Jennies will take on No. 8 seed Dallas Baptist in the first round.

Central Missouri Clinches MIAA Volleyball Title
Central Missouri defeated Nebraska-Omaha on the road in five sets Friday night to clinch the 2009 MIAA Volleyball Championship outright. The Jennies finish the regular season with an 18-2 record in MIAA play and 32-4 overall.

Setter Caitlin Pankratz is the only senior on the Central Missouri volleyball team. It’s understandable that she wants her last season to be memorable. It is the fourth specialist of the week honor for Liu, while Miller is a first-time recipient of the hitter of the week award in 2009.

Six MIAA Schools appear in the South Central Region Top 10 in the first NCAA Division II women’s volleyball poll released by the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee. The rankings include the top 10 teams in each of the eight regions, with records through October 11. The next rankings will be released October 29.
