Dell’Orco, Vengels Earn Women's T&F Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dani Dell'Orco (Truman) and Lisa Vengels (Missouri Southern) have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 5-11, as selected by a conference SID panel. Dell'Orco and Vengels are both first-time honorees this year.

MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Dani Dell'Orco, So., Truman
Dell'Orco recorded an automatic time of 35:23.82 to win the event title in her first 10,000-meter race that she competed in this year at the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake University. The sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., took nearly three minutes off her previous 10,000-meter time from last April at same meet. It was the fifth-fastest 10,000-meter time to date in Division II. Dell'Orco is also provisionally qualified in the 5000-meter run.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lisa Vengels, So., Missouri Southern
Vengels won the high jump championship at the John McDonnell Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas, with a leap of 5-08.75 feet. The sophomore from Dixon, Mo., broke her own school record set at Florida State earlier in the season by nearly two inches. She beat her nearest competitor by an inch and three quarters and defeated five Division I athletes in the process. Her mark is tops in the MIAA and third-best in NCAA Division II this season. It is also an automatic qualifying mark to outdoor nationals.
