Nelson, Churchman Earn Womens T&F Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Rosalyn Nelson (Pittsburg State) and Emily Churchman (Northwest Missouri) have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 29-April 4, as selected by a conference SID panel. Nelson and Churchman are both first-time honorees this year.
MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rosalyn Nelson, Jr., Pittsburg State
Nelson turned in the fourth-fasted time in Division II to date with
a winning time of 11.77 seconds in the 100 meters at the FHSU
Quadrangular Saturday. The Fort Scott, Kan., native posted the
second-fastest time in school history with the effort, helping the
Pitt State women to the meet title.
MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Emily Churchman, Sr., Northwest Missouri
Churchman won the long jump title at the Northwest Multi-Events,
jumping a personal-best 19-01.25 feet. The senior from Parkville,
Mo., is the fourth person in program history to leap 19 feet. Her
performance led Northwest Missouri to the team championship.
Churchman's jump currently ranks fifth in the nation.
