Central Men, Omaha Women Claim Indoor Titles

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri finished with 137 points to win the men's championship and Nebraska-Omaha totaled 127 to earn the women's title Sunday at the 2010 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Missouri Southern at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Mo.

Central Missouri defeated runner-up Pittsburg State (114) by 23 points to claim the men's title. Missouri Southern finished in third place with 89 points, followed by Emporia State in fourth with 87. Southwest Baptist (63) placed fifth, Northwest Missouri (45) finished sixth, Fort Hays State (18) took seventh place, and Truman (5) was eighth.

For the women's championship, Nebraska-Omaha finished 17.5 points ahead of runner-up Missouri Southern (109.5). Central Missouri placed third with 76 points, Emporia State finished fourth with 72 points, followed by Pittsburg State in fifth with 50.5 points and Fort Hays State in sixth with 41 points. Truman took seventh with 38 points, Northwest Missouri placed eighth with 34 points and Southwest Baptist finished ninth with nine points.

The individual women's high point scorer was Central Missouri's Lindsay Lettow, while the men's high scorer was Brennan Benkert of Missouri Southern. Pittsburg State had both the men's freshman high point scorer (Colbie Snyder) and women's freshman high scorer (Emily Lehman).
