Omaha Sweeps Women's T&F Awards Again

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Anja Puc and Nkeiruka Domike of Nebraska-Omaha have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 8-14 as selected by a conference SID panel. It is the second consecutive week that Puc and Domike have swept the awards for UNO. Puc now has three honors in 2010, while Domike has two.

MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Anja Puc, Jr., Nebraska-Omaha
Puc bettered her own top time in the 800 meters at the Husky Classic, finishing in 2:07.89.  That is an automatic qualifying mark and a new school record for the junior from Medvode, Slovenia.  It was just her second time running the event this season.  Puc's time is the best nationally by nearly three seconds and is the best mark in the MIAA by almost eight full seconds.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nkeiruka Domike, Jr., Nebraska-Omaha
Domike improved her national-leading mark in the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, seven inches at the Husky Classic.  Her automatic-qualifying mark is best in Division II by more than a foot and leads the MIAA by almost two feet.  It is also a school record for the junior from Rivers-State, Nigeria.
