UNO Sweeps Women’s Track & Field Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Nebraska-Omaha teammates Anja Puc and Nkeiruka Domike have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7 as selected by a conference SID panel. Puc is a second-time honoree in 2010, and Domike is a first-time winner this season.

MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Anja Puc, Jr., Nebraska-Omaha
Puc set the top time in the MIAA and the nation with a run of 2:09.79 at the Fred Sevigne Husker Invitational, an automatic-qualifying mark in her first time to run the 800 meters this season. The junior from Medvode, Slovenia, placed fourth and was the only Division II athlete in the field.  Puc's time is the best nationally by nearly two seconds and is the best mark in the MIAA by more than six seconds.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nkeiruka Domike, Jr., Nebraska-Omaha
Domike produced the MIAA and national-best triple jump and automatically qualified with a leap of 41 feet, six inches at the Fred Sevigne Husker Invitational. The junior from Rivers-State, Nigeria, was competing in the event for the first time ever indoors. Domike's mark is one foot better than the second-best jump in the country.
