MIAA Women's Tennis Finalists in NCAA-II Postseason


Northwest faces Northeastern State; Washburn gets Abilene Christian

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The two squads that faced each other in the MIAA women's tennis final are headed to different parts of Texas to compete in the NCAA Division II postseason.

Conference champion Northwest Missouri State (13-4) takes on Northeastern (Okla.) State (18-4) in the first round of their bracket at Austin, Texas. The winner will face the survivor between the host St. Edward's (Texas) Hilltoppers (14-6) and Central Oklahoma Bronchos (12-7).

The Washburn Lady Blues (15-3), who lost a 5-3 decision to the Northwest Bearcats in the MIAA title dual, will be in Abilene, Texas, and face the host Abilene Christian (Texas) Wildcats (23-5). The other half of the bracket has Incarnate Word (14-5) taking on Tarleton (Texas) State (12-5).

The survivors from each South Central Regional site advance to the national bracket, which will be played out May 13-16 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
