Truman Soccer Falls in NCAA Second Round

CANYON, Texas (TSU Media Relations) -- A goal early in the second half by the host West Texas A&M Lady Buffaloes stood up on a windy afternoon in northern Texas, as the Truman women's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss on Sunday afternoon.
Becky Hewson scored in the 54th minute off a pass from Lindsay McHorse to send WT to the third round.
Megan Buri took three shots and put them all on target for Truman, while both Kelsey Richters and Olivia Hayes were credited with a shot apiece. Jayne Grisham made four saves for the 'Dogs in net.
The Bulldogs end the 2009 regular season with a 15-4-3 record after reaching the NCAA tournament for the eighth time in program history. Senior Kristin Haluszczak tied the MIAA's all-time matches played record with her 87th career contest played in today's match.
Truman graduates eight seniors - Katie Reuck, Theresa Bauler, Jessica Wiegert, Haluszczak, Riley Mahn, Katie Hinrichs, Isabel Gaeta and Kelsey Richters - from this year's squad but will have six starters, including four all-MIAA performers returning for the 2010 season.
