Central Missouri Sweeps Weekly Soccer Awards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri teammates
Lindsay Hoerl and Lauren Bamvakais have been named MIAA Soccer
Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 3-8 as selected
by a conference SID panel. Bamvakais finishes the season with four
defensive player of the week honors, and Hoerl earns her first
offensive player of the week award of 2009 in the final vote of the
year.
MIAA SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lindsay Hoerl, MF, Central Missouri
Hoerl appeared in both of UCM's games last week, taking
one shot. Against Northwest Missouri State, the senior from
Overland Park, Kan., helped the Jennies defense hold the Bearcats
to only one goal in the 3-1 victory. Against No. 23 Nebraska-Omaha,
Hoerl scored her first goal of the season and the game-winner.
After teammate Aaryn Burke hit the post, Hoerl took the rebound for
the goal in the 60th minute.
MIAA SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Bamvakais, GK, Central Missouri
Bamvakais played the entire 180 minutes for the Jennies
in net, giving up only one goal and saving 10 shots. The junior
from St. Louis, Mo., posted a 2-0 record for the week with one
shutout. Bamvakais recorded a .909 save percentage. Against
Northwest Missouri State, she collected six saves while giving up
the one goal. Against No. 23 Nebraska-Omaha, she tallied four saves
and the shutout. Bamvakais ended the regular season with 10
shutouts and a .833 save percentage for the Jennies.
