TSU, UNO Make NCAA Division II Soccer Field
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - MIAA soccer champion Truman and runner-up Nebraska-Omaha have earned berths in the 2009 NCAA Division II Soccer Playoffs, it was announced Monday evening. Truman drew the No. 4 seed while Omaha received the No. 5 seed, and the two MIAA foes will face each other in the first round Friday at Noon CT in Canyon, Texas, on the campus of West Texas A&M.
Truman (14-3-3) won the MIAA championship by two points over Nebraska-Omaha (13-5-2), the ninth MIAA title in 11 years for TSU. Truman and Omaha split their two meetings this season, with UNO taking a 4-1 decision Sept. 12 in Omaha, Neb., and TSU winning 1-0 Sept. 26 in Kirksville, Mo.
It will be the fifth postseason meeting between the two schools, with Omaha holding a 4-0 advantage. The winner of Truman and Nebraska-Omaha will move on to face No. 1 seed West Texas A&M in the second round Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
