Juravich, Bamvakais Named Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ashley Juravich (Missouri Western) and Lauren Bamvakais (Central Missouri) have been named MIAA Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 26-31 as selected by a conference SID panel. It is Bamvakais' third defensive player of the week honor of the season and Juravich's first offensive player of the week award of 2009.

Juravich scored the first two goals of her career as she helped the Griffons win two games last week. The freshman from Godfrey, Ill., scored her first career goal in a 3-0 victory over Emporia State. On Oct. 31 against Southwest Baptist, Juravich scored the game-winning goal to give the Griffons the 1-0 victory.


MIAA SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Bamvakais, GK, Central Missouri
Bamvakais played the entire 192-plus minutes in Central Missouri's two games last week, recording a 2-0 record and shutting out the opponents twice. The junior from St. Louis, Mo., saved seven shots in the games. Bamvakais made a great jumping save against SBU to push the ball over the net and keep the Bearcats out of goal. She made five saves in the game, shutting out SBU 1-0. Against TSU, Bamvakais only saw two shots as she saved both of them, posting her ninth shutout of the season. She now has 21 shutouts in her career as a Jenny.
