Yoder, Ommen Earn MIAA Weekly Golf Awards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Justin Yoder (Central
Missouri) and Erin Ommen (Nebraska-Omaha) have been named MIAA Golf
Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 7-13, as
selected by a conference SID panel. Ommen earns her second
consecutive and second overall award this season, while Yoder is a
first-time honoree in 2010.
MIAA MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Justin Yoder, Sr., Central Missouri
Yoder was the top MIAA individual finisher at the Missouri
Southern Spring Classic, the third MIAA scoring event of the
season. The senior from Versailles, Mo., fired rounds of 75 and 72
to finish in third place with a total score of 147 (+3). Yoder led
Central Missouri to the team championship, its third title in three
MIAA events this season.
MIAA WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Erin Ommen, Sr., Nebraska-Omaha
Ommen led the Mavericks in scoring by six strokes during the
two-day Tarleton State Spring Classic and posted the low round for
the team with a four-over par 76 on each day. The senior from
Omaha, Neb., finished eight-over for the tournament. It was the
fourth time in four tournaments this spring that she posted
UNO’s top score or tied for the top spot. Ommen finished in a
four-way tie for eighth overall.
