The Pittsburg State women’s basketball team has punched its ticket to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in San Antonio, Texas. The Gorillas earned the big with a 79-67 win over Emporia State in the South Central Regional final on Monday, March 12 at Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan.

Washburn Cruises Past West Texas A&M
The Lady Blues kept West Texas A&M to four field goals in the second half as they opened the NCAA South Central Region tournament with a 68-36 win Friday in Lee Arena. Top-seeded Washburn (29-4) will play at 7 p.m. Saturday in a semifinal against the winner of the No. 4 Tarleton State/No. 5 Emporia State game. West Texas A&M ended its season at 19-10.

Emporia State Defeats Tarleton State, 64-56
Heather Robben scored a game high 19 points, including a ten of ten performance from the free throw line, to lead Emporia State to a 64-56 victory over Tarleton State in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament in Topeka's Lee Arena. The win sets up the third matchup between the Lady Hornets and the host Washburn Lady Blues this season.
