WU, ESU, UCM Earn Women's Postseason Bids

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - MIAA regular season and tournament
champion Washburn along with Central Missouri and Emporia State
have earned spots in the field of 64 teams for the 2010 NCAA
Division II Women's Basketball Championship, the NCAA Division II
Women's Basketball Committee announced Sunday night.
Twenty-two conferences have been awarded automatic
qualification. The committee selected the remaining 42 teams
at-large.
All eight teams within the region will travel to one site for
first-round, semifinal and final competition at the regional level,
except in the Atlantic region. The Atlantic region will utilize a
two-host site format in which the No. 1 seed and the No. 2 seed
each host a four-team tournament.
The winner of each site will compete for the regional championship at the site of the highest remaining seed. First-round games will be played March 12 and regional semifinal games March 13. Regional championship games will be contested March 15.
The regional champions will advance to the NCAA Women's Elite
Eight March 23, 24 and 26 at St. Joseph Civic Arena in St. Joseph,
Missouri. Missouri Western State University will host the Elite
Eight.
