Washburn Clinches MIAA Women's Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Washburn clinched the 2009-10 MIAA women's basketball regular season title outright with its 63-51 win at Emporia State Wednesday night. It is the second conference championship in the last three years for the Lady Blues, and their sixth in eight seasons.

Washburn now has seven MIAA titles in school history, six of them under the supervision of Ron McHenry. It is the first time since the 2005-06 season that the Lady Blues have earned sole possession of the league championship.

There is one weekend left in the MIAA regular season, with the 2010 MIAA Basketball Championships set to be played March 4-7 at Municipal Auditorium in Downtown Kansas City.
