From there, only two games separated the No. 3 through No. 9 seeds.
Missouri Western, Central Missouri and Fort Hays State tied for third place with 10-10 records in conference play. The tiebreaker to decide the 3-5 seeds was determined based on each team's record against the other two teams involved in the three-way tie. Missouri Western was 3-1 against the other two, Central Missouri was 2-2 and Fort Hays State was 1-3. Therefore, Western is the No. 3 seed, Central is the fourth seed and Fort Hays State is the No. 5 seed.
With their split today, Northwest Missouri and Truman tied for sixth place in the conference. Because there was no head-to-head tiebreaker, it went on to which team had the better record against the highest seeds in the league. Both Northwest and Truman were 0-2 against Emporia State and 0-2 against Nebraska-Omaha, so it came down to their records against No. 3 seed Missouri Western. Northwest swept Western, while Truman was 1-1. Northwest will be the No. 6 seed, and Truman will be the seventh seed.
Washburn and Missouri Southern tied for the eighth and final spot in the tournament. The Lady Blues and Lions split their season series, so it came down to the same scenario as the sixth and seventh seeds. Washburn and Southern both went 0-2 against Emporia State and 0-2 against Nebraska-Omaha. Washburn earned the final tournament spot with its 1-1 record against No. 3 seed Missouri Western, as Missouri Southern was 0-2 against the Griffons.
With the seeds set, so are the first round tournament matchups. All first round matchups will be played Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Blue Valley Sports Complex in Overland Park, Kan.
Top seed Emporia State will take on No. 8 seed Washburn, No. 2 seed Nebraska-Omaha will play No. 7 seed Truman, No. 3 seed Missouri Western will match up with No. 6 seed Northwest Missouri, and No. 4 seed Central Missouri will face off with No. 5 seed Fort Hays State.
