Emporia State Sweeps Weekly XC Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Emporia State's Adam McGovern and Katie Mona have been named MIAA Cross Country Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 17 as selected by a conference SID panel. McGovern wins for the second time this season, while Mona is honored for the first time.
 
MIAA MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Adam McGovern, So., Emporia State
McGovern ran a 5K time of 15:29.70 to place fifth at the Ollie Isom Invitational. The sophomore from Lee's Summit, Mo., was the top ESU finisher for the second straight meet. McGovern led ESU to second place in the team standings behind Garden City CC, who is ranked 3rd in the NJCAA National poll.

MIAA WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Katie Mona, So., Emporia State
Mona ran a 4K time of 14:33.36 to finish third at the Ollie Isom Invitational behind two NJCAA All-Americans. The sophomore from Lenexa, Kan., led ESU to second straight second place team showing.
