Pierce, Dell’Orco Tabbed XC Runners of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Michael Pierce (Southwest Baptist) and Dani Dell'Orco (Truman) have been named MIAA Cross Country Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 25-26 as selected by a conference SID panel. Pierce picks up the honor for the second consecutive week, while Dell'Orco is a first-time winner this season.
 
MIAA MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Michael Pierce, Sr., Southwest Baptist
Pierce placed first at the Roy Griak Invitational with an 8K time of 25:22.2. The senior from Kansas City, Mo., also led Southwest Baptist to the team title. Pierce led after three kilometers, fell back to ninth after five kilometers, then came back to win. He ran a 5:07 mile pace.

MIAA WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Dani Dell'Orco, So., Truman
Dell'Orco finished in third place at the Brissman-Lundeen Invite with a 6K time of 19:28.4. The sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., also helped lead Truman to its third consecutive cross country team title. Dell'Orco was the second collegiate runner to cross the finish line and was 50 seconds ahead of the fourth-place runner.
