Lewis, Atwood Win Weekly Men's T&F Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Romel Lewis (Lincoln) and Derek Atwood (Truman) have been named MIAA Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for action from the beginning of the indoor season through Dec. 11 as selected by a conference SID panel.

MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Romel Lewis, So., Lincoln
Lewis recorded the best time in the 60-meter dash preliminaries, finishing in 6.74 and beating out 51 other potential qualifiers. He later bested that time in the finals, finishing ahead of 14 other competitors to win the event in 6.67. He later helped Lincoln's 4x400 relay team to a victory, as the squad beat out seven other teams to win in 3:16.38. Lincoln ultimately won four events and posted nine top-three finishes at the Cyclone Holiday Preview, a competition featuring athletes from schools in all NCAA divisions, including Division I host Iowa State.

MIAA MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Derek Atwood, Sr., Truman
Atwood was one of three individual winners for Truman at the Iowa State Holiday Preview. The senior from Lee's Summit, Mo., won the shot put by 2.50 inches, giving him the 12th-best mark early on in Division II.
