MIAA Announces Outdoor Coaches of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Central Missouri men's track & field co-head coaches Kip Janvrin and Kirk Pedersen and Lincoln women's track & field head coach Victor Thomas have been named 2011 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Coaches of the Year, the league office announced Sunday.

Janvrin and Pedersen receive the award after leading the Mules to their 10th MIAA outdoor title in 11 years. It is also the 10th time in 11 years for the Central tandem to be named men's outdoor coaches of the year.

Thomas wins his first outdoor award in his opening season in the league after guiding Lincoln to its first MIAA women's outdoor title in school history.

The 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set to take place May 26-28 at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium in Turlock, Calif.
