Sialo, Alonso, Frizzell Earn Men's T&F Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Laban Sialo (Central Missouri), Drew Frizzell (Central Missouri) and Max Alonso (Fort Hays State) have been named MIAA Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 11-17, as selected by a conference SID panel.

MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Laban Sialo, Jr., Central Missouri
Sialo finished 10th among collegiate runners at the 53rd annual Mt. SAC Relays. His time (12:39.14) ranks fifth on the national list, third in UCM history, and first in the MIAA this season. It is also a new personal record for the indoor 5000 meters All-American. Sialo is now automatically qualified for the outdoor NCAA Division II Championships.

MIAA MEN'S FIELD CO-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Drew Frizzell, Sr., Central Missouri
Frizzell captured a new personal record with a mark of 220'10" in the hammer throw this weekend at the Pitt State Gorilla Classic. It was not good enough to re-capture the nation's leading mark, however it did set a new Prentice Gudgen Track record, and increased his lead in the conference standings. Frizzell still holds the second-best throw in all of NCAA Division II, leads the MIAA, and is second and third in the discus and shot put in the MIAA, respectively.

Max Alonso, Jr., Fort Hays State
Alonso won the shot put and discus throws at the KT Woodman Classic this past weekend. Alonso topped the field in the shot put with a throw of 57 feet, 1.5 inches. He won the event by nearly five feet. His throw of 180 feet, 1 inch in the discus was a little over 17 feet further than the second-place competitor. However, neither throw improved on his national marks. He currently ranks second nationally in the discus and fifth in the shot put.
