Walker, Glassmaker Earn Men's T&F Awards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jeremy Glassmaker
(Southwest Baptist) and Darius Walker (Central Missouri) have been
named MIAA Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for
action from the beginning of the outdoor season through March 28,
as selected by a conference SID panel. It is the second
student-athlete of the week award this season for Walker, and the
first for Glassmaker.
MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jeremy Glassmaker, Sr., Southwest Baptist
In the outdoor season opener, Glassmaker won both the 800 and
1,500 meters at the PSU/Wendy’s Open. The senior from
Marshall, Mo., won the 800 with a time of 1:57.36 and took first in
the 1,500 by nearly two seconds, with a time of 4:04.18.
MIAA MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Darius Walker, So., Central Missouri
Walker followed up his NCAA Indoor Heptathlon Championship by
winning the Angelo State University Spring Break Decathlon with an
automatic-qualifying score of 6,989 points. The sophomore from
Lee’s Summit, Mo., continued his success by winning the
Mules’ first outdoor event. His score is a personal best by
more than 400 points (6,585 previously), and is currently No. 1 in
the nation. His decathlon score is the fourth highest in school
history, and no other UCM decathlete has scored over 6,900 points
since 2002.
