Jackson, Frizzell Win Men’s T&F Weekly Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jeremy Jackson (Pittsburg State) and Drew Frizzell (Central Missouri) have been named MIAA Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 15-21 as selected by a conference SID panel. Jackson is the track athlete of the week for the second consecutive week and second time overall this season, and Frizzell is the field athlete of the week for the third time in 2010.
 
MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jeremy Jackson, Sr., Pittsburg State
Jackson raced to victory in both the 60-meter hurdles and the open 60 meters at the Central Missouri Classic Friday. The Burton, Texas, native was clocked in a season-best time of 7.91 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles to reclaim the fastest mark in NCAA Division II. Jackson also turned in a personal-record performance in winning the 60 meters, winning that race in 6.83 seconds. His time stands as the 12th-fastest mark in DII to date, earning him PQ status toward nationals.

MIAA MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Drew Frizzell, Jr., Central Missouri
Frizzell was the meet champion in the weight throw at the Central Missouri Classic. The junior from Chillicothe, Mo., fell just short of his previous best throw of the year by half an inch. He still owns the second-best throw in the nation this year in Division II. In the shot put, Frizzell placed third with a throw of 57 feet.
