Schuler, Frizzell Earn Men's T&F Weekly Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Josh Schuler (Emporia State) and Drew Frizzell (Central Missouri) have been named MIAA Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7 as selected by a conference SID panel. Frizzell wins the award for the second week in a row and second time this year, while Schuler picks up the honor for the first time in 2010.
 
MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Schuler, Jr., Emporia State
Schuler twice broke the ESU record in the 200 meters at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. The junior from Dallas, Texas, ran a 21.47 in Friday's prelims to break Kenton Longberger's school record of 21.80 set at the 2008 MIAA Championships. Schuler came back with an automatic-qualifying time of 21.35 in Saturday's finals to break his own record. He leads the MIAA and is ranked second in the nation in the 200. He finished second to Nebraska's Dax Danns's 21.20 that ranks fourth all-time at Nebraska. Schuler also had a provisional qualifier in the 60 meters on Friday night. His time of 6.86 is fourth all-time at ESU, ranks third in the MIAA this season and is currently ranked 14th in the nation. Schuler placed sixth in the finals with a 6.91.

MIAA MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Drew Frizzell, Jr., Central Missouri
Frizzell was first in the weight throw at the Mule Relays with a toss of 20.82 meters (68-3 ¾ feet), which is the second-best toss in the nation and best in the MIAA. Frizzell's throw is also an automatic qualifying mark.  The junior from Chillicothe, Mo., also won the shot put with a provisional mark of 17.24 meters (56-6 ¾ feet).  That is the third-best throw in the conference and No. 8-best in NCAA Division II.
