Central Missouri Wins SBU Invitational
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Missouri fired a final-round team score of 291 Tuesday to win the Southwest Baptist Invitational at Shiloh Springs Golf Club in Platte City, Mo., the second MIAA men's golf scoring event of the season. The Mules' two-day total of 572 (-4) gave them a five-stroke victory over runner-up Lindenwood (577, +1).
Central Baptist's Justin Burns earned the individual championship with a 68 (-4) in the final round to finish 5-under par for the tournament (139). Burns defeated runner-up Steven Mallow of Lincoln, the highest-finishing MIAA individual, by two shots.
Washburn finished in third place with a total score of 583 (+7), while Fort Hays State placed fourth at 602 (+26). Missouri Western finished tied for fifth at 607 (+31), followed by Lincoln in seventh (609, +33), Missouri Southern in ninth (627, +51), Southwest Baptist in 10th (628, +52), and Pittsburg State in 11th (629, +53) to round out the MIAA schools competing.
