KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- Central Missouri stormed back in the final round of the Truman Bulldog Classic to overtake Washburn and win the first MIAA scoring event of the season. Dustin Yaeger of Washburn won the individual title in a sudden death playoff.

Central Missouri used rounds of 67 by Matt Milller, 68 by Justin Yoder, 70 by Jared King and 71 by Ryan Kloeppel to finish with an eight-under par 276 in the final round and a 569 total score. Washburn posted a 290 on the second round and finished with a 577.

Four shots separated the next four schools as Missouri Southern took third place with a 597, Southwest Baptist finished fourth with a 598, Missouri Western totaled 599 to take fifth and host Truman fired a total score of 600 to finish sixth.

Yaeger beat out Washburn teammate Riley Piles in a sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole for medalist honors. Yaeger finished with rounds of 68 and 73 for a total of 141.

Ryan Kloeppel of Central Missouri finished third with an even-par 142 after a scorecard playoff gave him the trophy over teammate Matt Miller and Truman's Nik Bentzinger.

This was the first of four conference scoring events of the 2009-10 season.  The conference champion is determined by a team's finish in the three regular season tournaments plus the final conference tournament in Kansas City in April 2010, where double points are awarded.

The next conference scoring event will be Oct. 5-6 at Fort Hays State.
