Central, Omaha Lead MIAA Golf Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Justin Yoder carded twin rounds of 70 (-2) Monday at Tiffany Greens Golf Club to take a four-shot lead in the individual standings and lead Central Missouri to a 20-shot lead heading into Tuesday’s final round of the 2010 MIAA Men’s Golf Championship.

Yoder’s total score of 140 (-4) gives him a four-shot edge over Southwest Baptist’s Brad Nipper (144, E), who posted the low round of the tournament thus far with a 69 (-3) in round one.

As a team, Central Missouri fired a two-round score of 583 (+7), 20 better than second-place Washburn (603, +27). The Ichabods trailed the Mules by just one stroke after the first round, but the second round saw Central Missouri gain some separation.

On the women’s side, Nebraska-Omaha shot a team score of 318 (+30) to take a 10-shot lead over Truman (328, +40) with 18 holes to play.

Truman’s Jen Lawson is the women’s individual leader after the first 18 following an opening-round 74 (+2). Lawson leads Nebraska-Omaha’s Danielle Suponchick (75, +3) by one shot, and defending MIAA Player of the Year Erin Ommen of Nebraska-Omaha by five heading into Tuesday.

The final round of the 2010 MIAA Women’s Golf Championship tees off Tuesday at 7:33 a.m. CT, with the men’s final round set to begin at 8:54 a.m.
