Hague, Lawson Named Golf Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nick Hague (Fort Hays State) and Jen Lawson (Truman) have been named MIAA Golf Student-Athletes of the Week for play from the beginning of the season through March 23 as selected by a conference SID panel. Hague and Lawson are the first honorees of 2010.

MIAA MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Nick Hague, Jr., Fort Hays State
Hague led the Tigers to their first team win in a tournament in over a decade. Hague’s even-par round of 72 helped the Tigers make up a nine-stroke deficit after the first round to claim the team championship by one stroke. The junior from McPherson, Kan., played in just one tournament prior to the Pasta House Invitational this season, the Fort Hays State Invitational in the fall. He was a member of Fort Hays State’s “B” team in that event. Hague’s 4-over par tournament total of 148 tied Justin Sellin of Southwest Baptist for second overall, just behind Andrew Funk of Drury University, who won the tournament with a 3-over total of 147.

MIAA WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Jen Lawson, Jr., Truman
Lawson, a junior from Mahomet, Ill., took medalist honors in the season opening event at Illinois-Springfield, besting teammate Krystal Limsiaco by one shot.
