Watts, Moosmann to Play in All-Star Game Friday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Missouri seniors Sanijay Watts and Alex Moosmann will play for the West team in the 2010 NABC Division II All-Star Game Friday at 7 p.m. at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. UCM Head Coach Kim Anderson will also be the head coach of the West squad.
Watts, the South Central Region and MIAA Player of the Year, led
the MIAA in both scoring (21.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg) this
season. He was the only two-year player in school history to record
more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. He is a strong candidate
to receive All-American honors for the second consecutive year this
week as well.
Moosmann was also a first-team All-South Central Region and
All-MIAA pick after leading the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio
at 4.3 (121-to-28). He averaged 15.4 points per game, and shot 50.1
percent from the field. He also led the team in three-point
shooting at 46.3 percent.
Both Watts and Moosmann were selected to the NCAA South Central
Region All-Tournament team for their play there. Watts led the
tournament with 28.3 points per game.
Central Missouri finished its season with a 27-4 record and won
its first outright MIAA title since 1984. The Mules broke the MIAA
record for wins (18-2) and tied the school record with 25 regular
season victories. Anderson was also named MIAA Coach of the Year
for his efforts.
