Bullock, Gregory Earn Weekly Basketball Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tyler Bullock
(Nebraska-Omaha) and Hope Gregory (Washburn) have been named MIAA
Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-20
as selected by a conference SID panel. It is the second weekly
award of the year for Gregory, while Bullock is a first-time
honoree in 2009-10.
MIAA MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Bullock, G, Nebraska-Omaha
In perhaps the two biggest games of UNO's season against
two of the top teams in the MIAA and the region, Bullock averaged
29.5 points a game and shot 48 percent from the field. At Central
Missouri, ranked No. 3 in the nation and No. 1 in the MIAA and
region, Bullock scored 27 points and added five rebounds. The
junior from Lincoln, Neb., went 11-for-20 from the field and
4-for-4 from the free throw line. Against SBU, tied with UNO at the
time for third in the league, Bullock scored 32 points to tie his
season high. UNO's go-to player at the end of games, he hit a layup
near the end of regulation to help send the game to overtime and in
the extra period, he scored eight points. Overall, Bullock went
10-for-24 from the field and hit a season-high three 3-pointers. He
shot 9-of-11 from the free throw line and added six assists and
five steals. In the two games, Bullock averaged 4.5 assists, 4.0
rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 87 percent from the
line.
MIAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hope Gregory, G, Washburn
Gregory helped 13th-ranked Washburn to two wins and a
half-game lead in the MIAA standings last week. The junior from
Cheney, Kan., averaged 17 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, raising
her scoring average to 10.2 ppg and her rebound total to 7.7 rpg.
She scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the
24-point win at MSSU. Gregory scored a game-high 16 points and
pulled down eight rebounds in WU's 35-point win over PSU. She
scored 11 of her 16 in the second half, including seven of
Washburn's first 11 points as the Lady Blues extended their
11-point halftime lead to a 41-point lead in the second half.
