Central Missouri Clinches MIAA Men's Title

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri clinched the 2009-10 MIAA men's basketball regular season championship with a 65-61 victory over Northwest Missouri Saturday night in Maryville, Mo. It is the third MIAA title in six years for the Mules, and their first outright championship since 1984.

Central Missouri, 17-1 in the MIAA and 24-1 overall, broke the MIAA record for road wins with its ninth of the year. The 17 wins in MIAA play also broke the UCM school record. It is the fifth 24-win season in the last six seasons for the Mules, extending head coach Kim Anderson's school record to five 24-win seasons.

Central's MIAA title is its third under Anderson, 21st overall and ninth outright in school history.

One week remains in the MIAA regular season. The 2010 MIAA Basketball Championships will take place March 4-7 at Municipal Auditorium in Downtown Kansas City.
