Laurie Selected for Kansas Collegiate Officials HOF
MIAA football supervisor of officials Phil Laurie will be inducted into the Kansas Collegiate Officials Hall of Fame along with fellow longtime official Charlie Weems on Sunday, March 6, 2011. The Hall of Fame banquet is at 11 a.m. at the Courtyard Wichita at Old Town, 820 E. Second Street.

MIAA Announces 2011-2015 Football Schedules
MIAA football schedules for the next five years (2011-2015) have been finalized, the conference office announced Monday. The 2011 schedule will continue to be a round-robin format and will feature the return of Lincoln University to MIAA play, bringing the league to 11 football-playing schools.

Czerniewski Named Cactus Bowl Offensive MVP

Twelve MIAA football players will play in the 17th Cactus Bowl Friday night at 7 p.m. at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas, home of Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Formerly divided geographically into East and West teams, this year's game will feature two teams split evenly regardless of location, coined the "Red Storm" and "Blue Devils" teams.

Czerniewski Named National Player of the Year
Central Missouri's Eric Czerniewski was selected as the Ron Lenz Offensive Player of the Year to headline the 2010 Daktronics All-America team, released Tuesday afternoon. Czerniewski topped NCAA Division II with 5,207 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes while leading the Mules to an 11-3 mark and a national quarterfinal appearance.

The Washburn seniors played their final game in Yager Stadium in style recording a 42-0 win over Emporia State in the 107th edition of the Turnpike Tussle. Northwest Missouri Edges Washburn, 41-40
The Washburn Ichabods came up just short in their homecoming upset bid over No. 5 Northwest Missouri falling 41-40 after a Washburn 2-point conversion with 56 seconds to go in the game failed. It was the fourth straight game in the series the final margin was less than three points and the second time in the last four it was one point. The Ichabods (4-4, 3-3 MIAA) will be back in action next weekend at Truman.

Emporia State gave up a ten point fourth quarter lead as they fell to Truman 37-34 in Welch Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets led 34-24 with 8:51 left in the game before the Bulldogs score 13 points in the final 4:47 to take the lead.

MWSU Remains Unbeaten With Win Over PSU
The 8th ranked Missouri Western football team outlasted visiting Pittsburg State on Hall of Fame Saturday in Spratt Stadium by a score of 42-25 in front of 5,818 fans. The Griffons were led by senior quarterback Drew Newhart as he threw for 363 yards and three touchdowns connecting on 25-of-34 passes. Head Coach collected his 99th career victory as the Griffons improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA.

Central Missouri rolled up a 55-45 victory over Washburn on Saturday at Walton Stadium-Kennedy Field. Eric Czerniewski threw for 447 yards and four touchdowns, with Jamorris Warren was on the receiving end of three of the TD tosses, as the Mules remain unbeaten after MIAA games.

The Fort Hays State football team hosted Truman on Saturday (Sept. 18) in Hays for the first game of MIAA play. The Tiger offense sputtered and struggled until midway through the fourth quarter, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to pull away for a 34-9 win. The Tigers move to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA.

Western Rolls Past Lincoln to Improve to 2-0

Broadcast and kickoff times are set for the 10 televised conference football games on the MIAA Broadcasting Network, the league office announced Wednesday. Eight of the 10 contests will broadcast live at 2 p.m. CT (2:20 p.m. kickoff), while two will take place live in prime time with 6 p.m. CT broadcasts (6:20 p.m. kickoff).

Missouri Southern Defeats Lincoln, 38-7
Missouri Southern was just two minutes from their second straight shutout to start the 2010 season. That's when the Lincoln Blue Tigers cracked the end zone, but at that point the game had long since been decided as the Lions rolled to a 38-7 win to improve to 2-0 on the season. The game was the first of the season for Lincoln.

Garrison Leads Fort Hays State Past East Central
Fort Hays State hosted East Central University on Saturday evening (Sept. 4) in Hays at Lewis Field Stadium. For the second straight week the Tigers scored 45 points and moved to 2-0 with a 45-23 win. The Tigers racked up 513 yards of total offense, paced by 358 passing yards by Mike Garrison.

Central Missouri Drops Heartbreaker, 55-54
The Central Missouri Mules put on another offensive show, this time against Division I-FCS Illinois State, but a go-ahead two-point conversion with 2:22 left in the game gave the Redbirds a 55-54 victory. The game got started and hour and 21 minutes late due to lightning storms and it rained for much of the night, but it didnt seem to bother the offenses.

After a somewhat slow start, the Tiger offense kicked into gear to cruise past Western State 45-20. Fort Hays State put up 543 yards of total offense, including 295 on the ground to dispatch of the Moutaineers.

The win was the sixth straight over the Orediggers in the final game in the series. Chuck Broyles Outlines Retirement Plans
For 46 years, Chuck Broyles has been part of Pittsburg State University in roles that have included student, athlete, assistant coach, coach and athletic director. Today he told the staff in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics about his plans to begin phased retirement and transition into yet one more role, assistant to the president.
