Bolles, Kilgore, Krajicek Earn Final Weekly Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Northwest Missouri teammates
Blake Bolles and Chad Kilgore and Washburn's Michael Krajicek have
been named MIAA Football Student-Athletes of the Week for the week
of Nov. 7 as selected by a conference SID panel. Bolles finishes
2009 with two MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors, while
Kilgore and Krajicek both win their first awards of the year in the
final football student-athlete of the week vote of the season.
MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Blake Bolles, QB, Northwest Missouri
Bolles threw for a career-high 421 yards against Central
Missouri, the third-highest total in program history. The junior
from Lincoln, Neb., threw for 360 yards and accounted for four
touchdowns (1 rush, 3 pass) in the first half. Bolles' last play
came with 5:18 remaining in the third quarter and with Northwest
leading 49-7. He broke Northwest's regular-season record for
passing yardage with 3,204 yards (the former record was 3,114 by
John McMenamin during the regular season in 2002). Bolles stands
three shy of the MIAA single-season record for touchdown passes
(has 35, Northwest's Chris Greisen threw 38 touchdowns in 1998).
Bolles quarterbacked eight touchdown drives on nine offensive
possessions.
MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chad Kilgore, LB, Northwest Missouri
Kilgore was Northwest's leading tackler for the third
game in a row. The sophomore from Orrick, Mo., held Central
Missouri to a season-low 14 points (previous low was 21, averaged
34). Northwest's defensive starters did not play the fourth quarter
(Northwest led 49-7 after three).
MIAA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michael Krajicek, LB, Washburn
Krajicek broke a school record with two blocked punts,
returning one for a touchdown in a 56-35 win over Emporia State.
His first block came on ESU's first possession, which Brad Haug
recovered and returned seven yards for a 7-0 lead with 12:58
remaining in the first quarter. Krajicek's second block came
with 4:56 remaining in the third quarter, which he recovered and
returned five yards for a touchdown as part of a 28-point third
quarter for the Ichabods that turned a 28-28 halftime tie into a
56-28 lead. While starting at linebacker, the senior from Gretna,
Neb., added eight tackles with four solo stops and three tackles
for loss.
