UNO's Season Ends with 8-6 Loss to St. Mary's

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (UNO Media Relations) – Nebraska-Omaha's season came to an end Friday afternoon as it was eliminated from the South Central Regional tournament by No. 5 seed St. Mary's Friday afternoon by a score of 8-6 at Crane Stadium.

UNO jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single from Tyler Splichal and an RBI single from Andrew Hansen.

The Rattlers responded with three runs of their own on a two-out, two-run single from Tyler Migl, followed by an RBI single by Josh McElroy to tie the game.

The Mavericks threatened in the third, getting three-straight singles from Splichal, Hansen and Colby McCord, but left the bases loaded with one out.

St. Mary's took a 4-3 lead in the fourth, but UNO regained the lead on an RBI single from Tyler Lundy to put the Mavericks up, 5-4.

The Rattlers took the lead for good in the sixth inning when they posted three runs in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Greg Herbst to go up 7-5.

Jeremy Klein's RBI bunt single with two outs in the sixth got the Mavericks within a run with the score 7-6, but could not over come the deficit.

David Conrad got the start for UNO and took the no-decision. He went four innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Brandon Dahl (0-2) suffered the loss. He tossed two innings, allowing three runs on four hits.

Matt Holland pitched a complete game for the Rattlers. He allowed six runs on 12 hits while striking out nine and walking just one batter.

St. Mary's out hit UNO 14-12 in the game.

The Mavericks finish the 2010 season with a 32-20 overall record.
