MIAA Places Five in Directors Cup Top 50

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The University of Central Missouri Mules and
Jennies finished third in NCAA Division II in the 2008-2009
Learfield Sports Directors Cup final standings released at the
NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of
Athletics) Convention in Orlando, Florida. The third
place finish by UCM tied the 2003-2004 Truman Bulldogs for the
top finish by an MIAA school in the 14 year history of the
event. Nebraska-Omaha was the second best finisher from
the MIAA in 14th.
UCM and Truman are the only two MIAA schools to ever finish in the
top ten while a member of the league. It was the eighth
top ten finish by UCM since the inception of the Directors Cup
in 1995, and the eighth time UCM has finished tops amongst MIAA
members. UCM's previous top finish was sixth in
1996-1997 and 2006-2007. Approximately 300 institutions
competed at the NCAA Division II level in 2008-2009.
