Defeat Lindenwood 4-1 to force rematch tomorrow

Joplin, Mo. – Missouri Southern used three long balls to propel themselves to a 4-1 victory over Lindenwood to stay alive in the MIAA Baseball Tournament.
 
The MSSU Lions got on the board in the top of the first as Tyler Sutherland hit a solo home run to deep left field. After six straight innings of zero’s Max Hogan would hit a second solo home runs for the Lions making it a 2-0 advantage. One batter later Sutherland would hit his second long ball of the game, this time to deep right field.
 
Lindenwood would get their first tally in the bottom of the eighth inning as Ryan Sosnowski singled to left field to score Paul Sherwood. Max Hogan would get his second RBI of the game as he hit an RBI ground rule double to deep left center field.
 
On the mound Will Bausinger threw a complete game striking out five and allowing just one run on eight hits.
 
The two teams will face off again in an elimination game on May 14 at 12:30 p.m. from Warren Turner Field in Joplin, Mo.
