Spring Hill, Kan. – Washburn carded a 299 on the first day as they open the MIAA Men’s Golf Championship with a three stroke lead after one round on the par 72, 7,081 yard Sycamore Ridge Golf Course.
Central Missouri and Central Oklahoma both came in at 302 to tie for second in the standings. A three-way tie for fourth rounds out the top five as Lindenwood, Missouri Western and Southwest Baptist all finished the day with 309 on their scorecard.
Individually Washburn’s Carson Roberts, Missouri Western’s Patrick McCarthy and Kevin Kim all turned in even par cards to the lead the field. Tate Williams of Northeastern State and Jared Burns of Washburn shot one over par to round out the top five.
Teams will tee off tomorrow for the second round of the tournament with teams hitting the course at 8:30 a.m.
