Kansas City, Mo. – The MIAA men’s basketball tournament will open with seeds 9, 10, 11 and 12 traveling to seeds 5, 6, 7 and 8 for 7 p.m. tip-offs on Feb. 27 with a trip to Kansas City on the line.
 
#5 Fort Hays State vs. #12 Northeastern State
Fifth seeded Fort Hays State will play host to #12 seed Northeastern State in an opening round game in Hays, Kan.
 
For the Tigers Rob Davis is leading the way averaging 21.9 points per game and adding 3.5 rebounds per contest. Hadley Gillum is averaging 13.4 points and 6.3 boards per game while JaQuan Smith leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game.
 
The RiverHawks are led by Montre Williams who is averaging 12.4 points per game and also a team best 2.9 assists per contest. Braxton Williams is leading the way on the glass with 4.3 rebounds per game while Juvon Turner averages 4.2 boards per game.
 
The winner of the game will take on fourth seeded Missouri Southern at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
 
#6 Washburn vs. #11 Southwest Baptist
Sixth seeded Washburn will play host to #11 seed Southwest Baptist in an opening round game in Topeka, Kan.
 
The Ichabods are led by Brady Skeens who is averaging a double-double with 13.8 points and a team best 11.3 rebounds per game. Cameron Wiggins is also in double figures averaging 12.3 points and Javion Blake averages 12.0 points per contest.
 
For the Bearcats Logan Hovey is leading the way averaging 13.3 points per game while pulling down 4.9 rebounds per contest. Brian Patterson is averaging 9.9 points and a team best 5.4 rebounds per game.
 
The winner of the game will travel to Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City to face third seeded Nebraska-Kearney for a 12 noon tip-off in the quarterfinal round.
 
#7 Central Oklahoma vs. #10 Emporia State
The seventh seeded Bronchos will play host to tenth seeded Emporia State in a rematch of their final regular season game as they face off again in the opening round in Edmond, Okla.
 
For the Bronchos the leading scorer is Josh Holliday who is averaging 12.9 points per game while Corbin Byford averages 12.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest. Also in double figures are Jake Hammond with 11.0 points and Marquis Johnson with 10.8 points per game.
 
The Hornets are led by Brandon Hall who is averaging 13.8 points and dishing out a team best 4.1 assists per contest. Josh Pederson is averaging 8.9 points while Garin Vandiver is leading the team on the boards with 5.1 rebounds per game.
 
The winner will advance to Kansas City where they will face second seeded Central Missouri for a scheduled 2:30 p.m. tip-off from Municipal Auditorium.
 
#8 Lindenwood vs. #9 Lincoln
Eighth seeded Lindenwood will play host to ninth seeded Lincoln in the opening round from St. Charles, Mo.
 
The Lions are led by Chandler Diekvoss who is averaging 15.3 points and pulling down 6.3 rebounds per game. Jackson Price is averaging 11.5 points while Dominique Dobbs is averaging 11.2 points and a team best 7.8 rebounds per contest.
 
The Blue Tigers are led by Anthony Virdure who is averaging 22.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and a team best 4.3 assists per game. Jaylon Smith is also averaging double figures with 20.8 points and a team best 6.5 rebounds per game.
 
The winner will earn a spot in Kansas City where they will face top seeded Northwest Missouri in a 6 p.m. tip-off from Municipal Auditorium.
