Win 4-3 over UCO in thriller

Oklahoma City, Okla. – Top seeded Missouri Western scratched a run across in the top of the seventh, then worked out of a bases loaded jam to win 4-3 over third seeded Central Oklahoma in the MIAA Softball Championship game from ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
 
The Griffons led 2-0 after three innings before Central Oklahoma rebounded with two in the third and one in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. MWSU would get a run in the top of the sixth and seventh inning before UCO loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Turning a 1-2-3 double play Missouri Western closed out the victory.
 
For the Griffons Sydney Washington finished two for three on the day with a run scored and a run driven in. Megan Korgie, Katie Klosterman and Riley Wilson also drove in runs during the game. For the Bronchos Halley Randolph was two for four with an RBI while Tori Collett went three for four with a run driven in. Carli Jones was one for three with a home run to right center field in the fourth inning.
 
In the circle Shyanne Saladino earned the victory coming on and pitching the final 3.2 innings allowing no runs and striking out one.
 
The Griffons earn the MIAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament while all other teams will await the announcement of the field on Monday, May 2 at 9 a.m.
