KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Southern earned 11 first place votes and have been picked by the coaches to win the MIAA in baseball. The Lions earn the top spot in the poll after winning the MIAA regular season and post-season title last season.
Emporia State, who met them in that title game has earned the second slot taking one first place vote. Central Missouri who earned two first place votes has been picked third by the coaches. Lindenwood earned 122 points to take the fourth spot in the poll, coming in just two points ahead of Missouri Western who the coaches picked fifth.
Six points behind the Griffons is Washburn who is in the sixth slot in the coaches tally. Nebraska-Kearney earns the seventh spot with Central Oklahoma ten points back of them in eighth place. Fort Hays State is slated to finish ninth with 64 total points.
Just fourth points behind the Tigers is Northeastern State who earns the 10
th spot from the coaches. Southwest Baptist is picked 11, just one point ahead of 12
th place Northwest Missouri who is just one point ahead of 13
th place Pittsburg State. Lincoln was selected in the 14
th slot in this season’s poll.
The season is scheduled to get underway in earnest on Feb. 5 with league games schedule to begin on Feb. 26 from campus sites.
