Kansas City, Mo. – Three of the three game series’ in the MIAA Tournament got underway tonight.

#1 Emporia State 6, #5 Central Missouri 2
Top seeded Emporia State staved off elimination with a 6-2 win over Central Missouri. Emporia State racked up nine hits and got two long balls as they eliminated the Jennies from the Tournament field.

Emporia state leadoff hitter Stephanie Goodwin was three for three with a home run and two runs scored as well as driving in two runs. Taylor Zordel went one for four with two runs driven in and Jessica Gragg also added a two run home run. Kaitlyn Caston allowed just one earn run while striking out two to pick up the victory.

#4 Missouri Western 10, #2 Central Oklahoma 1
Missouri Western put up four first inning runs and did not look back as they advanced to winners bracket semi-final. MWSU also added six runs in the sixth inning to ice the game.

Sydney Washington was one for three with three runs driven in, a home run and two runs scored. Kat Steponovich added two RBI and Katie Klosterman had two runs scored going two for three on the night. Emily Ditmore had the lone UCO run driven in by Hannah Justus. Jackie Bishop pitched six strong innings allowing just five hits and striking out eight.

#8 Northeastern State 7, #4 Fort Hays State 4
Northeastern State’s upset run continued as they defeated Fort Hays State to advance to the winners bracket semi-final. The RiverHawks used 10 hits and three-run fifth inning to earn their second straight win over a higher seed.

For NSU Alyssa Aguilar had a home run and drove in three runs on the evening. Saharra Henson was two for four with a run scored and two runs driven in. For the Tigers Bianca Adame, Courtney Dobson, Amanda Vaupel and Samantha Villarreal all drove in runs. In the circle Kayce

#7 Lindenwood 8, #6 Northwest Missouri 7
#7 Lindenwood got a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to stave off elimination. Lindenwood had 14 hits and took advantage of two Northwest errors.

For the Lady Lions Courtney Opich was two for four with two runs driven in and Kendall Ryndak was four for four with one run scored. Brook Tiehes had the game winning home run driving in three runs. In the circle Brooke Miller earned the win pitching one inning out the bullpen.
