Kansas City, Mo. – The Lincoln Women’s Track and Field team won their fourth indoor title while the Pittsburg State men won their first since 1995 coming in just ahead of host Missouri Southern.

Lincoln’s Yanique Ellington won the women’s high point award and Missouri Southern’s Jeff Fraley won the men’s high points.

Everything got going in the pentathlon on Friday night as Erin Alewin of Central Missouri racked up 3,901 points to win the MIAA Championship. Madison Smith of Central Missouri came in second with 3,840 points and Emilyn Dearman of Pittsburg State scored 3,520 points for third. In the men’s heptathlon Payson Maydew of Emporia State scored 5,305 points to earn the MIAA Championship. Jeff Piepenbrink of Pittsburg State scored 5,141 points for second and Blake Seitz of Central Missouri was third with 5,052 points.

In the women’s weight throw Central Missouri’s Heavin Warner used a throw of 61’2” to earn the MIAA Championship. Lindsey Blackwell of Lindenwood finished second and Danyell Coons of Nebraska-Kearney claimed third place. In the men’s weight throw Luke Wilson of Pittsburg State had a throw of 58’9.5” to win the MIAA title. Michael Thalken of Nebraska-Kearney finished in second with Pittsburg State’s Cody Holland finishing third.

In the women’s triple jump Brittani Reagan of Missouri Southern jumped 39’11.25” on her home track to claim the MIAA Championship. Lincoln’s Jonelle Campbell finished in second with her teammate Daniel Newman earning third place. On the men’s side Marquise Cushon jumped 49’7” to win the MIAA championship. Missouri Southern’s Darion Boure finished in second and his teammate Clark Tanksly finished in third place.

Pittsburg State’s Heather Glenn vaulted 12’6” to earn the MIAA Indoor title in the women’s pole vault. Ashleigh McFarland of Missouri Southern finished second and Alaina Fairbanks of Emporia State came in third.

Things finally got going on the track on Saturday night as Missouri Southern’s Kaitlyn Belisle won the 5,000m run with a time of 17:40.15. Jessica Macy of Pittsburg State ran a 17:35.23 to finish second and Twishanna Williams ran a 17:53.53 to finish third. In the men’s 5,000m run Eric Schott of Missouri Southern set a 14:33.95 to earn the MIAA Championship. Al Sanabria of Nebraska-Kearney came in second place and his teammate Kevin Carder finished in third.

The final event on the track Saturday night was the distance medley relay which the Lincoln women won with a 12:06.01 pace. Southwest Baptist finished in 12:12.76 to finish in second and Missouri Southern set a pace of 12:24.08 for third place. In the men’s race Missouri Southern ran a 10:13.96 to pick up the MIAA Championship. Nebraska-Kearney finished in 10:17.60 to finish second and Pittsburg State was third with a 10:24.05 time.

Things got going on Sunday morning with the women’s long jump as Shakiesha Miller of Lincoln used a jump of 19’3.25” to earn the MIAA Championship. Her teammate Nickiesha Beaumont took second place and Missouri Southern’s Kaylee Morgan finished in third. In the men’s long jump Brady Land of Nebraska-Kearney jumped 24’10” to earn the MIAA title. Meelis Siimson of Central Missouri finished in second with Pittsburg State’s Steven Mann taking third place.

In the women’s shot put it was Kyle Cornman of Missouri Southern with a throw of 47’7.75” to win the MIAA Championship. Jackie Ziemke of Nebraska-Kearney was second with Lekiesha McKnight of Northwest Missouri finishing third. In the men’s shot Michael Thalken threw 56’ 3” to earn the MIAA title. Bo Farrow of Pittsburg State was second and Jacob Mahin of Central Missouri was third.

In the women’s high jump Lacey Rhodes of Central Oklahoma cleared 5’11.25” to win the title. Madison Smith of Central Misosuri finished second and Natalie O’Keefe of Southwest Baptist was third. In the men’s high jump Dillong Schrodt of Nebraska-Kearney cleared at height of 6’9.75” to earn the championship. Samuel Saidi of Emporia State finished second with his teammate Jordan Manning finishing third.

In the men’s pole vault Jeff Piepenbrink of Pittsburg State cleared 16’10” to earn the MIAA Championship. Brady Melugin of Missouri Southern and his teammate Michael Juergens each cleared 16’6” to earn a tie for second place.

As things returned to the track in the afternoon Kindra Emberton of Missouri Southern opened it up running a 5:01.74 to earn the MIAA Championship in the mile. Liz Damman of Nebraska-kearney finished in second with Missouri Southern’s Emily Harris finishing third. In the men’s mile it was Pittsburg State’s Adam Volkert running a 4:16.21 to win the title. Williams Rush of Missouri Southern finishing second and his teammate Andrew Webster finishing third.

In the 60m hurdles Lincoln earned a sweep of the top three with Ladonna Richards finishing first with an 8.42 time which set a meet record. Juneille Barker finished second and Shakiesha Miller finished in third. Pittsburg State’s Andre Sanders won the men’s 60m hurdles with an 8.07 pace. Jazz Allen of Missouri Southern finished in second with Stallone Watson finishing third for Lincoln.

In the women’s 60m dash Yanique Ellington of Lincoln ran a 7.42 to earn the MIAA Championship. Samantha Woodburn of Fort Hays State was second and Janae Johnson of Lincoln came in third. In the men’s race Jeff Fraley of Missouri Southern ran a 6.74 to win the title. Deneko Brown of Southwest Baptist was second with Romone Hill of Lincoln coming in third.

In the women’s 400m dash Emma Shell of Southwest Baptist finished the race in 55.28 to earn the MIAA title and setting a building record. Amber White of Missouri Southern came in second and Donna-Lee Hylton of Lincoln finishing third. In the men’s 400m dash William Shell of Southwest Baptist set a building record running in 48.12 to win the championship. Michael Ashley of Lincoln finished second with Dukiya Tibbs of Emporia State coming in third.

In the women’s 600 yard run Chloe Wichman of Northwest Missouri ran a 1:24.36 to earn the MIAA Championship. Sam Szczublewski of Fort Hays State was second and Sydney Potts of Missouri Southern was third. In the men’s race Mike Reynoso of Lindenwood ran the race in 1:13.52 to earn the championship. Jordan Peters of Pittsburg State was second with Ross Lorber of Central Missouri coming in third.

In the 800m run Marissa Bongers of Nebraska-Kearney won the race by setting an MIAA meet record 2:11.60 time. Monique Thompson of Lincoln was second with Terah Fullman-Ege finishing third. In the men’s race a meet record was set by Lincoln’s Jermaine Blake as he ran a 1:52.12 race. Paul Pape finished second for Nebraska-Kearney and Kellin Loch of Central Missouri was third.

In the women’s 200m dash Yanique Ellington of Lincoln finished in 24.19 to win the MIAA Title. Her teammates Janae Johnson and Tamera Keane rounded out the top three. In the men’s 200m dash Jeff Fraley was first with an automatic qualifying time of 21.60 to win the championship. Juwan Cubit of Lindenwood was second and Michael Ashley of Lincoln came in third.

In the women’s 3,000m run Kaitlyn Belisle of Missouri Southern ran a 9:57.80 to win the MIAA Championships. Pittsburg State’s Jessica Macy was second and Twishana Williams finished third. In the men’s 3,000 Al Sanabria of Nebraska-Kearny won the race with an 8:38.25 pace. Missouri Southern’s Eric Schott was second and Drew Keefer of Northwest Missouri finished third.

In the final event of the meet the Central Missouri won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:51.63. Nebraska-Kearney came in second and Lindenwood finished in third place. In the men’s race Lincoln raced a 3:18.42 to set a building record and take the MIAA Championship. Lindenwood finished second in the race and Southwest Baptist finished in third place.
