Kansas City, Mo. – Three men’s and three women’s games got week ten underway in MIAA basketball.
Pittsburg State at Emporia State
WBB – #3 ESU 80, PSU 78
Pittsburg State missed two free throws with one second to play as they fell shot in a comeback at #3 Emporia State. ESU outrebounded PSU 43-33 as they moved to 8-0 on the season.
For the Lady Hornets Rheanna Egli had 16 points and Merissa Quick had 15 points and nine rebounds. Laura Patrick had 12 points and Kelly Moten added 11 points while on the glass Desiree Wylie led the way with 13 boards. For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus had 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Alex Muff had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Y’Cedria Devers had 10 points and seven boards.
MBB – ESU 83, PSU 75
Emporia State won their third straight picking up a victory over Pittsburg State at home. ESU shot .533 from the field as they moved to 5-3 in league play this season.
For the Hornets Kaleb Wright led the way with 21 points and Terrence Moore added 19 points. Jay Temaat had 12 points and Gavin Brown added a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. For the Gorillas Devon Branch had 15 points and six rebounds with Josiah Gustafson added 13 points. Sam Pugh had 12 points while Terrell Eaddy had nine points and ten boards.
Missouri Western at Central Missouri
WBB – #8 UCM 71, MWSU 65
Central Missouri scored 20 points off of turnover as they picked up a win over Missouri Western at home. UCM shot .480 from the field as they moved to 7-1 in the league this season.
For the Jennies Revonnia Howard led the way with 23 points and six rebounds. Keuna Flax had 16 points and eight boards while Shelby Winkelmann added 12 points. For the Griffons Quenisha Lockett had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. JaQuitta Dever had 14 points and Sharniece Lewis finished with 11 points.
MBB – UCM 81, MWSU 63
Central Missouri scored 14 points off of turnover as they picked up a victory over Missouri Western at home. UCM pulled down 42 rebounds while allowing MWSU only 26 as they moved to 6-2 in the MIAA.
For the Mules Dillon Deck had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Charles Hammork had 20 points and Ryan Magdziarz finished with 17 points. For the Griffons Ryan Devers had 16 points and pulled down six rebounds. Kevin Balque had 15 points and Cortrez Colbert had 13 points and six boards.
Lindenwood at Missouri Southern
WBB – MSSU 72, LWU 61
Missouri Southern shot .438 from behind the three-point line as they picked up a win at home over Lindenwood. MSSU pulled down 36 rebounds as they moved to 5-2 in league play.
For the MSSU Lions Shonte Clay had 19 points and Shawnee Phillips added 15 points. Nicole Hartzog had 10 points and Alexis Fitzpatrick dished out 10 assists. For the LWU Lions Morgan Johnson led the way with 16 points on the night. Kassidy Gengenbacher had 14 points and Caroline Bourlioux had 11 points.
MBB – MSSU 70, LWU 50
Missouri Southern outscored Lindenwood 42-24 in the second half as they picked up a victory at home. MSSU held LWU to .346 shooting from the field as they moved 6-1 in the MIAA this season.
For the MSSU Lions Marquis Addison led the way with 21 points and pulled down five rebounds. Cameron Cornelius had 17 points and Jordan Talbert finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. For the LWU Lions Michael Boos had 11 points on the night. Darris Smith added 10 points to six rebounds in the ballgame.
