Top two seeds advance to semi-final

Overland Park, Kan. -- The second round of the MIAA softball tournament got off to a late start, but did not disappoint as several games came down to the wire.
Central Oklahoma 2, Emporia State 1
In the first of two winners bracket games Central Oklahoma scratched across a run with two outs in the bottom of the seven to pull out the 2-1 victory.
For the Bronchos Ally Dziadula was two for four and drove in the games winning run. Nicole Workman also drove in a run while Hayley Hudson scored the game winner. In the circle Kalynn Schrock struck out seven allowing just six baserunners in the win.

For the Hornets Taylor Zordel went two for three and Cacy Williams stole home to score ESU's only run. In the circle Karley Schmelzer struck out seven and allowed just one earned run.

ESU now faces Truman in an elimination game while Central Oklahoma faces Fort Hays State in the semi-final.
Fort Hays State 3, Missouri Western 0
In the other winners bracket game Fort Hays State used a long ball to plate three in the top of the seventh and earn a 3-0 victory.
For the Tigers Amanda Vaupel was one for two with a three-run home run and a run scored. FHSU had only two hits in what turned out to be a pitchers dual between the two first team All-MIAA pitcher. Maddie Holub struck out ten and allowed only two baserunners.

For the Griffons Jackie Bishop allowed just four baserunners and struck out six in the ballgame.
FHSU takes on Central Oklahoma in the winner's bracket final while MWSU takes on Northeastern State in an elimination game.
Northeastern State 9, Northwest Missouri 2
After falling behind 1-0 early Northeastern State scored nine runs between the four and fifth inning to earn a 9-2 victory over Northwest Missouri.
For the RiverHawks Cayce Coleman was one for three and drove in two runs. Allyson Pogue and Lisa Ripperger each went two for four and scored two runs while Laquieta Drew and Saharra Henson also scored two runs each. In the circle Cayce Coleman allowed only one earned run despite striking out only one in the effort.

For the Bearcats Kylie Cantrell hit a home run and Hailee Hendricks added a double and an RBI.
NSU now faces Missouri Western in an elimination game while Northwest Missouri is eliminated from the tournament.
Truman 4, Pittsburg State 3
Truman scored four runs in the first inning and held on to pull out a 4-3 victory over Pittsburg State.
For the Bulldogs Kelsey Bollman went two for two with a run scored. Kristin Grossman was one for three with a run scored and two RBI. In the circle Hannah Washburn struck out three allowing seven hits.

For the Gorillas Tiffany Brown went two for four with a home run and drove in all three PSU runs.
TSU will now face Emporia State in an elimination game and Pittsburg State is eliminated from the tournament.
