MIAA Centennial Moments: Day No. 10
To help celebrate the MIAA's centennial year, the conference will feature "100 days of memories" on the league website, where some of the greatest moments in MIAA history will be highlighted on each of those 100 days spread throughout the calendar year.
In honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (Wednesday, Feb. 1), this week we will highlight some of the top historical moments in MIAA women's athletics.
1982: The MIAA begins sponsoring championships in women's athletics -- volleyball, softball, basketball, cross country, track & field and tennis.
2001: Emporia State Lady Hornet basketball player Emily Bloss was the Daktronics Women's Basketball Player of the Year, CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, and an NCAA Today's Top VIII Award winner.
